Data Elements Dictionary

As required in Section 12.3.2 of the USG Business Procedures Manual, this page outlines Middle Georgia State University’s Data Elements Dictionary (DED). The collection of data elements provides guidance on interpretation, accepted meanings, and representation of the various systems at the institution. The purpose of this project is to help avoid data inconsistencies across the university, improve data analysis, enhance transparency, and provide consistency in the collection and use of data across all departments.

All data stewards are required to complete a data elements dictionary for data systems that are part of routine data collection and/or store sensitive information, as identified by the CISO. Data stewards are responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the content within the DED to provide transparency and understanding to all users. A full list of systems and data stewards can be found on the System Access Request page HERE.
