Course Placement Information

LANG 1001 is open to students with one to two years of the language in high school or who have no prior experience with the language.

LANG 1002 requires LANG 1001 as a pre-requisite or placement test*.

LANG 2001 requires LANG 1002 as a pre-requisite or placement test*.

LANG 2002 requires LANG 2001 as a pre-requisite or placement test*.

SPAN 2002 is the prerequisite for all 3000- and 4000-level courses in Spanish.

* Placement test: Students who have experience with the language can test out of a class by either taking the CLEP exam or the Modern Language program placement exam. If students are successful, they will receive K credit for the class(es) they test out of.

To take the CLEP exam: Contact the Testing Center at 478-471-2050 for Macon and Warner Robins or 478.934.3093 for Eastman, Cochran, and Dublin (https://www.mga.edu/testing-services/index.php).

To take the Modern Language program placement test: Contact the Media, Culture, & the Arts department at 478.471.5792 in Macon or 478.934.3085 in Cochran. The Modern Language program placement test is free and can be taken only once.
