Housing & Residence Life

***IMPORTANT MOVE OUT INSTRUCTIONS***

You have received the news that Middle Georgia State is moving to online instruction for the remainder of the semester. The decision to move to online courses means that residential students will need to move out of the residence halls.  We understand this decision has an immediate impact on you, and we are committed to helping you during these challenging circumstances. Please be assured that will work individually with any student that does not have an alternative housing arrangement right now. We know that there are unique situations, such as some international students who cannot go home or other students on break who cannot return to MGA due to travel bans.

Our residence halls will close by 12pm on Friday, March 27nd. Residence hall move-outs will use staggered check-out procedures to ensure the process remains consistent with the concept of maintaining an appropriate level of social distance. Below are some details to help guide you with this move out:

  • Students will not be allowed to return to campus after Friday, March 27  - process for exception requests is noted below
  • Residential students who have extreme circumstances and are unable to move out of the residence halls by March 27 should contact us immediately using this appeal form - Residence Life staff will promptly review your request and make a determination as soon as possible. This appeal is for students who have:
    • Lack of current adequate housing - Includes individuals who have documented housing displacement (homelessness) or the inability to leave due to travel bans (international students)
    • Adequate housing, but unable to return to campus to move out by March 27 – Includes individuals that are currently ill, quarantining due to exposure to COVID-19, or impacted by current travel bans into the US or restrictions from returning to campus (travel to CDC Level 3 and higher countries)
  • Refunds – The University System of Georgia is also developing a plan to handle pro-rated refunds for housing, dining and other services. We appreciate your patience as they work through these details. Our offices will be in touch with you as those details are made available.
  • Request Move Out Appointment - Appointment times will occur between March 20-27 and are per building in order to limit the number of people on campus at one time. You may bring no more than two individuals to help you pack and vacate your room.  Click on your building to make your appointment

***NOTE: Move out instructions will be sent in a follow up email from your Residence Life Coordinator***

Please know that the safety, security and well-being of our university remain our top priority, and we are working to minimize the disruption the disruption caused by this rapidly-evolving health crisis. We thank you for your patience and flexibility.
