Five graduates in the Center for Middle Georgia Studies enjoying reception

MGA is proud of its array of graduate programs.  Master's degrees are offered in the Schools of Business, Computing, Education and Behavioral Science, Health and Natural Sciences, and Arts and Letters.  Our two doctoral degrees are the Doctor of Science in Information Technology and the Doctor of Science in Public Safety and Emergency Management. In fact, 27 doctoral degrees were awarded at our Spring commencement ceremonies!

It is a tradition to hold a Graduate School Reception to celebrate the achievements of students completing these rigorous graduate degrees.  Hosted by the Office of the Provost, the School of Computing, the Office of Graduate Studies, and the MGA Foundation — and made possible by support from Robins Financial Credit Union— the reception took place in our Center for Middle Georgia Studies.

On May 12, the reception brought together prospective graduates, faculty, staff, and university leadership to celebrate these milestones. Faculty members shared stories about their students’ determination, while students discussed plans for putting their advanced qualifications to good use.

Tammy Ussery, a graduate of the MSIT program, shared that choosing Middle Georgia State University was a natural fit, having already been familiar with the institution through prior coursework. Looking ahead, she plans to continue growing her IT career in the insurance industry while also exploring opportunities to teach at the college level.

As the evening wound down, laughter lingered, and the hugs got a little tighter. MGA’s about-to-graduate students left with a sense that big things are just around the corner — ready to take what they’ve learned and make their mark in classrooms, clinics, tech startups, and wherever life leads next.
