Honoring legacy through flight inspires future aviation leaders
Dr. Christopher Blake presented the inaugural Knights Legacy Society Award to Kevin Howell Cowart at the May Foundation Board Meeting, recognizing his generous planned gift and the enduring legacy he is creating. Kevin Cowart is a seasoned aviation maintenance professional with more than 30 years of experience, including distinguished service in the United States Marine Corps and a long-standing career with Delta Air Lines. Holding FAA Airframe & Powerplant and FCC GROL licenses, he began his career in avionics, specializing in airborne electronic systems, and went on to lead major aircraft acquisition, modification, and maintenance initiatives across the globe. His work has taken him to countries including Canada, Mexico, and Brazil, with additional assignments in Ireland, Hong Kong, and beyond.
Kevin’s deep connection to aviation is rooted in family; his parents and brother all built their careers in the airline industry. Kevin has more than three decades of experience in aviation maintenance, including global assignments and leadership roles with Delta TechOps, and has built a career defined by excellence and dedication. Through his legacy gift, he honors both their influence and his own journey. His commitment is embodied in the establishment of the Kevin Howell Cowart Aviation Maintenance Career Endowment, which will support future generations of aviation professionals.
This endowment will provide vital resources for students in the Middle Georgia State University Aviation Maintenance Technology program, ensuring that aspiring technicians have the opportunity to pursue careers that keep the aviation industry moving forward.
