2026 Jennings Family Distinguished Lecture Features 9/11 Air Force One Commander
Middle Georgia State University invites alumni, friends, and community members to save the date for the 2026 Jennings Family Distinguished Lecture, featuring Colonel (Ret.) Mark W. Tillman, commander of Air Force One on September 11, 2001.
Colonel Tillman will present "Zero Fail Mission," a compelling first-hand account of leadership, decision-making, and courage under extraordinary circumstances. As the pilot and commander responsible for Air Force One during the events of September 11, 2001, Tillman played a critical role in safeguarding the President and executing historic missions during one of the most pivotal moments in American history.
A 30-year Air Force veteran and recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, Colonel Tillman later led the first flight carrying a Commander-in-Chief into an active war zone. Drawing from these experiences, he shares valuable lessons on leadership, accountability, and performing under pressure—insights that resonate with audiences from all backgrounds.
The Jennings Family Distinguished Lecture Series brings national and regional experts to Middle Georgia State University to enhance learning, inspire dialogue, and strengthen connections between the University and the communities it serves. The series is made possible through the generosity of the Jennings Family.
The event will take place on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the Hatcher Conference Center on MGA’s Macon Campus. A reception will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the lecture at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited, and reservations are required.
