Dimensions of Wellness Initiative

Building a Healthier MGA, One Dimension at a Time

Middle Georgia State University is proud to introduce the Dimensions of Wellness Initiative, a yearlong, campus-wide effort to promote holistic well-being for all students, faculty, and staff.

This initiative supports Strategy 3, Priority 9 of the MGA Strategic Plan by embedding a culture of wellness into every aspect of University life. Each month, we highlight one of the Eight Dimensions of Wellness, providing intentional opportunities to educate, engage, and grow together.

What Are the Eight Dimensions of Wellness?

The Eight Dimensions of Wellness represent key areas of a balanced, fulfilling life. By focusing on one theme each month, we aim to create an inclusive and accessible wellness journey for our entire campus community.

Month Theme Focus Area
August Social Wellness Building relationships, social connection, and support networks
September Intellectual Wellness Engaging in lifelong learning, creativity, and mental stimulation
October Emotional Wellness Managing emotions, stress, and mental health
Nov/Dec Spiritual Wellness Exploring purpose, values, belief systems, and cultural identity
January Physical Wellness Caring for your body through fitness, nutrition, and preventive health
February Financial Wellness Budgeting, financial planning, and responsible money management
March Occupational Wellness Career development, work-life balance, and finding purpose in your work
April Environmental Wellness Caring for the spaces we live and learn in, and practicing sustainability

How It Works

  • Monthly Focus: Each month, we highlight one wellness theme through events, campaigns, and resources.

  • Collaborative Programming: Campus departments and student organizations are invited to contribute events aligned with the monthly dimension.

  • Engagement Opportunities: Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate in at least one event each month.

  • Event Listings: All events are published in MGA Knight Life and communicated via email and social media.

Why It Matters

Wellness is more than fitness or physical health...it is about thriving in every area of life. By participating in this initiative, we collectively commit to:

  • Supporting personal and community well-being

  • Fostering cross-campus connections

  • Creating a culture that values balance, purpose, and inclusion
