Coffee and Civilization in Colombia

Embark on a six-day experience in Colombia, centered in the Pereira/Coffee Region. This study abroad program takes a deep dive into coffee culture, agriculture, Colombian history, biodiversity, and cultural immersion. Students explore Colombia's world-famous coffee culture, including hands-on participation in the coffee production process — from harvesting and pulping to drying, roasting, grinding, and tasting.

Learn the cultural, environmental, and economic significance of coffee while visiting coffee-growing communities. Hear local stories during the RECUCA experience, take in the view at Cocora Valley, shop the wares in the vibrant streets of Salento, relax in natural hot springs at Santa Rosa de Cabal, sip and enjoy the attractions at the National Coffee Park, and discover Colombia's biodiversity at Chinchiná by visiting the Botanical Garden and Butterfly Farm.
