Promotion and Tenure, Post Tenure Review Committee - PTPTR
About
The Promotion and/or Tenure and Post-Tenure Review Committee (PTPTR) supports faculty seeking promotion or tenure by providing guidance, clarifying requirements, and helping candidates navigate the procedures. It organizes and coordinates the subcommittees responsible for candidate evaluations and monitors the progress of evaluation materials as they move through the subcommittee, Provost, and President review stages.
In partnership with the Provost’s office and Faculty Senate, the PTPTR also reviews, clarifies, and recommends revisions to policies related to promotion, tenure, and post-tenure review. Additionally, the committee assembles post-tenure review committees and assists faculty undergoing that process.
The PTPTR consists of seven faculty members drawn from the core instructional faculty: four tenured full professors and three tenured associate professors. Two Faculty Senate members serve in a non-voting advisory role. Committee members serve staggered terms, with three or four members rotating off each year through annual elections.
The committee continues to work toward improving clarity in the promotion and tenure process and implementing new University System of Georgia policies governing promotion, tenure, and post-tenure review.
