Currently, the U.S. is experiencing an acute shortage of math educators, researchers, statisticians, actuaries, quantitative analysts, appraisers, designers, pollsters, epidemiologists, and other specialists with strong mathematical backgrounds. Fields such as biostatistics, video game design, computer animation, digital imagery, and many others are grounded in mathematics.
