About the Professional Development Initiative
The Professional Development Initiative is a strategic investment funded by the Office of the Provost and collaboratively administered by the Office of Human Resources and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL).
Together, these offices support the development and delivery of high-quality, accessible, and sustainable professional development opportunities for all MGA employees.
Through this initiative, MGA faculty and staff develop self-paced, asynchronous courses in Brightspace/D2L that are available to all employees. These courses strengthen workplace competencies, expand institutional knowledge, and support professional growth at every career stage.

About the Staff Professional Development Program
The MGA Staff Professional Development Program is designed to support employee growth, enhance institutional effectiveness, improve job performance, and promote career advancement opportunities for staff employees. The program provides structured oversight, equitable access to resources, and accountability for the use of professional development funding.
The Staff Professional Development Program offers financial support, providing up to $1,000 to assist with professional development costs, materials and supplies, and other direct educational expenses.
About Faculty Development Applications
Faculty Development Applications provides funding opportunities that support the professional growth, scholarly activity, and instructional excellence of full-time, tenure-track faculty members. Through this website, eligible faculty may apply for funding to support conference participation, research activities, and the invitation of speakers or trainers that enhance teaching, learning, and academic engagement.
These opportunities are designed to advance faculty development while supporting MGA's mission, core values, and strategic initiatives. Applications are reviewed through established funding cycles, with priority given to activities that demonstrate clear alignment with institutional goals and meaningful contributions to faculty growth and student success.
