Employee Benefits

The University System of Georgia (USG) provides MGA employee benefits that offer protection, peace of mind, and comfort-and want you to make the most of them. Our comprehensive benefits package is designed to support your personal health, well-being, and retirement needs. The benefits package includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, and more.


Regular employees working 30 hours or more per week and full-time faculty are eligible to enroll in the USG healthcare and/or voluntary benefit plans. Newly eligible employees have 30 days from their effective date of hire to select benefit options through the OneUSG Connect portal.

The 2023 Benefits Open Enrollment will take place October 24 – November 4, 2022. Employees will have an opportunity to attend an in-person or virtual benefits fair. 

The in-person benefits fair will be held on Wednesday, October 19 on the Macon campus. The event will be held in the Rehearsal Hall located in the Arts Complex from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. USG benefit vendors will be available to answer questions about benefits or retirement plans. Also, biometric screenings and flu shots will be offered through LabCorp for employees enrolled in a USG healthcare plan. Schedule your appointment through the USG Well-being platform

The USG virtual benefits fair, with live presentations and chat, will be offered throughout the Open Enrollment period, from October 24 – November 4. Information on how to register for the virtual benefits fair will be sent via email.

USG Benefits Resources

The OneUSG Connect – Benefits Call Center team is available to assist you with questions or concerns you may have regarding your benefits or retirement elections. A team member can be reached Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at 844-587-4236.

Retirement Benefits

All employees working 20 hours or more per week, are required to participate in one of the USG mandatory retirement plans: Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) Plan or Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). In addition, the USG offers voluntary supplemental retirement saving plans. For detailed information on the retirement and voluntary supplemental plans, please visit the USG Retirement website.

Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

The University System of Georgia has established an educational assistance program, the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), for the purpose of fostering the professional growth and development of its employees. The tuition assistance program is available to full-time benefits-eligible employees of the USG who have successfully completed at least six (6) months of employment in a benefits-eligible position, as of the date of the TAP application deadline for the desired academic semester.
